"Enjoy
your own
life without comparing it with that of another." - Marquis de Condorcet

The fact is that there
will always
be someone around us with a more expensive car, a larger home, or
perhaps a newer designer suit. Heck, they may even flaunt that around.
Should we care or despair? Not at all. While it's positive to seek out
nice things and set goals to earn them, a healthy perspective is even
more important. And that starts with identifying and acknowledging
those things we already have, and giving thanks. Giving thanks renews
our appreciation and enjoyment of the world around us. And once we're
tuning in, we may even find that we're not just thankful for
particular objects, but for satisfying relationships, great
opportunities, making a difference to others, our health, or just being
alive.
So we can be happy for our neighbors and acknowledge a bountiful
universe, while we focus on what really matters to us. Then we're
living consciously, and realizing that enjoyment is not out there
somewhere, but already here inside of us.
Spiritual Growth reflections:
Can I
write down three or four things that I appreciate in my life and am
thankful for?
Can I take
satisfaction and enjoyment from acknowledging this proof of a generous
existence?
