"Difficulties
are
God's errands; and when we are sent upon them we should esteem it a
proof of God's confidence--as a compliment from God."

Why do we face this
challenge or that difficult situation? When
undesirable happenings show up in our lives, it's sometimes easy to
just throw up our hands and grumble.
But consider for a moment that nothing has ever been thrown our way
that we couldn't handle. The proof is that we have persevered and are
still alive today. And whether or not our outcomes have been exactly as
we would have liked, we've most likely learned something valuable in
the process. Shaping who we are today, and the consciousness we hold.
Often the largest of life changes offer us the most significant
blessings. Many folks lose a job and end up finding a much better
replacement. Others end a relationship and with time find a much
happier and satisfying match. Some lose a loved one and connect on a
profound level to how fortunate they were for having known the
individual; a mindset they'll carry with them forevermore. Still others
survive a difficult illness and now care for (honor) their bodies like
never before. The list of examples goes on. In every case there is an
opportunity waiting.
So let's face it, one aspect of life's process is to meet with
challenges, overcome them, and grow. If we look at them as growing
opportunities, it just might give us a more positive life experience,
and truly change the way we relate to the world.
Perhaps it's not so cliché after all when they
say, "Everything happens for a reason." Perhaps God knows best, and we
are all the better for his belief in us.
Spiritual Growth reflections:
Can I take
comfort in this knowledge and approach my issues differently than in
the past?
Might this
reinforce my faith in the value of life?
Is there
currently a difficulty in my life that I can look at as an opportunity
to grow from, or something to improve upon?
