"In
prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a
heart."

It's the meaning
behind the action
that speaks volumes. When we perform an act there is always an
intention behind it. Are we nice to a person because we might want
something from them, or are we nice with no strings attached, because
that's how we believe people should be treated? Do we buy ourselves
nice things because we feel prosperous, or do we do it to fill a void
or compensate for something else? Whether we're thinking of our
intentions or not, they exist. They testify about who we are, and what
we stand for.
And it is no different when we pray. Some of the most beautiful aspects
of prayer are the honesty, humility and love that reside at its core.
The very essence of our prayers comes from our hearts; in there lie all
of our finest, most caring intentions.
This manner of thought is a relief to many because it means a prayer
doesn't need to be elegant, fluid, long or short. It only needs to have
some heart behind it, and that's what makes it perfect. Prayer
can even just be a state of being or awareness. As simple as a loving
thought towards others, a feeling of thankfulness, or an affirmation of
the beauty and good in the world around us.
There have been many, many standardized or official prayers from many
religions over the course of time. The prayers of the world are truly
positive, and truly powerful. And the common element in all of them,
and in all who recite them, is the special energy that dwells there.
When we put our heart into our own personal prayers, they take flight
and make their way right to Source. Simple and effective. We can't help
but to notice that it feels just right.
