"We go
to the
grave of a friend saying, 'A man is dead;' but angels throng about him,
saying, 'A man is born.'"

After the transition
of a loved
one, when we are in mourning, there are many natural emotions and
processes unfolding. We are all familiar with feelings of sadness,
loss, grief. All of these are real and valid. They play a role in our
healing, and are part of the process when physically parting with a
person who held a special significance for us.
It's just then, while we're feeling what might seem to be a
landslide of emotions, that comfort enters to bless us with its
presence. The kind words and gestures of others. The emotional support
of family and friends in a time of difficulty. These all provide a
wonderful perspective to help ease and reassure us. In fact, some say
it's during these times that they've felt some of the sweetest,
most delicate expressions of love.
On another level, we might also remember the significance of what a
person's transition represents. A common spiritual perspective declares
that life doesn't just end, it evolves. The word "transition" implies
that the spirit or the soul lives on in very special place. Embraced
with love. Surrounded by higher meaning.
Indeed, the angels celebrate their coming. Might not we also celebrate
their light, and hold a consciousness of wishing them well on their
grand journey? What a great opportunity to honor a loved one. What a
great opportunity to renew our faith and to affirm the precious stages
of our existence.
